PERÚ: POLICÍA IMPIDE INGRESO DE LA PRENSA A DELEGACIONES POLICIALES
A partir del 14 de enero de 2010, la prensa no podrá ingresar a las delegaciones policiales ni recabar información en dichas dependencias sin un permiso previo. Así lo informaron subalternos de varias dependencias a los periodistas que cubren la fuente policial en la región Cajamarca, al noreste del país.
Según lo informado, los periodistas deberán solicitar previamente una cita con el funcionario que deseen entrevistar y precisar los temas que serán tratados. Luego, la oficina de informaciones de la policía de Cajamarca será la que decidirá si procede o no la solicitud del periodista o medio de comunicación.
La medida ha generado el rechazo de la prensa, que siempre ha podido obtener fácilmente información de fuentes policiales en sus propias dependencias.
El general Jorge Iparraguirre Mestanza, jefe de la XIV Dirección Territorial de la Policía de Cajamarca (Diterpol), aclaró que la medida es para impedir que personas ajenas ingresen a las delegaciones policiales y que los periodistas, “previas coordinaciones”, si podrán tener acceso a éstas.
IPYS recomienda al comando de la policía de Cajamarca facilitar el trabajo de los periodistas y no impedir el derecho de acceso a información a esta fuente.

PERÚ: POLICE PREVENTS PRESS FROM ENTERING POLICE STATIONS
From 14 January 2010 on, the press will not be allowed to enter, nor obtain information from police stations, without getting a permit in advance. Journalists who cover police sources in the Cajamarca region were notified of this by subordinate personnel in several police stations.
According to the information, journalists will have to obtain an appointment with the official they want to interview and specify the issues to be talked about. The Cajamarca police information bureau will then decide whether or not to accept the journalists’ requests.
The measure has generated rejection from the press, which has always been able to obtain information easily from police sources in their own offices.
General Jorge Iparraguirre Mestanza, chief of the Cajamarca Police XIV Territorial Office (Diterpol), clarified that the measure has been issued to prevent strange people from entering police stations and that journalists will have access to them.
IPYS recommends the Cajamarca police command that it should facilitate journalists’ work and not prevent their right to access information from this source.
